For some reason younger wo­men and even teen­agers have al­ways been at­trac­ted to older dales. The clas­sic Freu­dian ex­plan­a­tion is that the oed­ipus com­plex a daugh­ter‘s un­con­scious de­sire to have sex with her father is clearly evid­enced in a young wo­man‘s at­trac­tion to older men. But if the Oed­ipus com­plex is what draws some younger wo­men to older men, while for oth­ers it is the older man‘s greater ex­per­i­ence, what is be­hind the older man‘s at­trac­tion to young wo­men and even girls? Does the older man un­con­sciously act out wishes to sleep with his daugh­ter by go­ing to bed with younger wo­men, or is he un­con­sciously mo­tiv­ated to make him­self feel younger by hav­ing sexual re­la­tions with younger wo­men? One in­ter­viewed man in his forties, with a long his­tory of se­du­cing teen­age girls, de­scribes his pen­chant for young girls this way:
